Peter M. Heise-Pavlov completed a Ph.D. in 1990 from Monash University, Melbourne, on the Ecology of Feral Pigs in Eastern Australia, and spent 6 years as Officer-In-Charge of the Robert Wicks Research Station, the Vertebrate Pest Research arm of the Queensland Government. In 1991 he came to far north Queensland to study the Ecology of Feral Pigs in Tropical Forest, improving pig trapping success and the Management of the Southern Cassowary. Since 2006 he has been studying Urban Wildlife Management (Stray Cats) in the Republic of Cyprus Dr. Sigrid R. Heise-Pavlov completed her Ph.D. in 1989 from the University of Halle (Germany) on Biological Control of Pest Rodents. She completed two Post-Doctoral Fellowships, one in England on Chemical Communication in House Mice, followed by a Post-Doctoral Fellowship with the European Union, based in Brussels on the Immunology and Behaviour of Small Rodents. Since coming to North Queensland in 1998, she has been doing research on chemical signals in feral pigs to improve trapping success. Sigrid has been lecturing at the University of Hannover since 2006 and at the Technical University of Munich since 2007, on the Evolution and Vegetation Structure of Australian Ecosystems. She organizes specialized field trips for students of botany, ecology, ecosystem management and nature conservation who learn about Australian ecosystems and methods of their management.
